products description :
Polyclonal Antibody anti-human hemoglobin procedure: Sheep were immunized with human hemoglobin in Freunds adjuvant. After multiple immunizations the sheep were bled, serum collected and the anti hemoglobin immunoaffinity purified. Custom concentrations of Hemoglobin Antibody available upon request. The affinity purified polyclonal antibody anti-human hemoglobin forms a single precipitin band with human adult hemoglobin A1, A2, F and S, by immunoelectrophoresis. Custom polyclonal antibody production available using host chicken, sheep, rabbit, goat or other species not listed. Choose your immunogen from our product line and in 5-6 weeks we can supply. Custom cross linking available Custom Polyclonal antibody concentrations available. Custom Monoclonal Antibody available. What is human hemoglobin: human hemoglobin(hb)main component of red blood cells, is a protein that carries oxygen away from the lungs and carbon dioxide back to the lungs. A molecule of human hemoglobin(hb) consists of 2 pairs of peptide (alpha and beta globins) chains and four heme groups, each with one atom of iron. At a normal oxygen tension of 100 mmHg in the blood vessels of the lungs, 95 - 98% of the human hemoglobin(hb) is combined with oxygen. In the tissues further from the lungs, where the oxygen tension is much lower, the oxygen readily separates from human hemoglobin(hb).

ncbi summary :
The alpha (HBA) and beta (HBB) loci determine the structure of the 2 types of polypeptide chains in adult hemoglobin, Hb A. The normal adult hemoglobin tetramer consists of two alpha chains and two beta chains. Mutant beta globin causes sickle cell anemia. Absence of beta chain causes beta-zero-thalassemia. Reduced amounts of detectable beta globin causes beta-plus-thalassemia. The order of the genes in the beta-globin cluster is 5'-epsilon -- gamma-G -- gamma-A -- delta -- beta--3'.
