Name :
Anti-IGF [1R 24-55]
Catalogue Number :
152348
Applications :
FACS IP
Antigen/Gene or Protein Targets :
Human insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor
Reactivity :
Human
Relevance :
Insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) is a 70 aa polypeptide hormone with endocrine, paracrine, and autocrine effects. It shares >60% homology with IGF-II and by 50% homology with proinsulin structures. This clone has been shown to cause 35-60% inhibition of IGF binding and has been used for immunoprecipitation and blocking assays.
Host :
Mouse
Immunogen :
Antibody directed at type-1 insulin-like growth factor receptor (440-586 epitope)
Subclass :
IgG1
Research Area :
Cancer, Cell Signaling & Signal Transduction, Developmental Biology
Notes :
Antibodies 17-69 and 24-55 were isolated in separate fusions using spleen cells from different mice and therefore it is very possible that they have different epitopes. Reaction of both antibodies within the same rather large region (AA440-586 - effectively the first FnIII domain) was demonstrated using available IR/IGFR domain swap chimeras, but that does not necessarily mean they share a common epitope. Indeed, 17-69 and 24-55 can bind simultaneously to IGF, and they exhibit significant differences in properties (for instance 17-69 reacts very well with IR/IGFR hybrids, but 24-55 reacts very poorly with hybrids). Both antibodies moderately inhibit IGF-1 binding. Neither is "better" - they are just different.
