Name :
Anti-POLR2A [1PB-7C2]
Catalogue Number :
152276
Applications :
ELISA IF WB
Antigen/Gene or Protein Targets :
RNA Polymerase B Subunit hRPB1
Reactivity :
Human
Relevance :
POLR2A is the largest subunit of RNA polymerase II, the polymerase responsible for synthesizing messenger RNA in eukaryotes. The protein contains a carboxy terminal domain composed of heptapeptide repeats that are essential for polymerase activity. These repeats contain serine and threonine residues that are phosphorylated in actively transcribing RNA polymerase. In addition, this subunit, in combination with several other polymerase subunits, forms the DNA-binding domain of the polymerase, a groove in which the DNA template is transcribed into RNA.
Host :
Mouse
Immunogen :
Synthetic peptide (TSPSYSPTSPSYSPTSPSYSP) coupled to ovalbumin
Subclass :
IgG1 kappa
Research Area :
Epigenetics & Nuclear Signalling
Notes :
Available in 100ul unit as ascites. This antibody efficiently recognize both IIA and IIO forms in Western?blot experiments. The epitope was mapped as follows: A substitution of S7 ?> K7 (TSPSYSPTSPSYSPTSPSYSP ?> TSPKYSPTSPKYSPTSPKYSP) abolishes the recognition by 7G5, suggesting that the cognate epitope includes Ser7. In contrast, the 7C2 monoclonal antibody recognizes both repeats, although the S7 ?> K7 moderately impairs the recognition in western?blot experiments, indicating that its epitope is rather located around residues 4 and 5 within the YSPTSPS repeat.
