Relevance :

The Monoclonal Anti-GSK-3 / Shaggy protein kinase family, Clone 5G-2F was selected to react on the phospho-peptide but not on the non phosphorylated peptide. This antibody will not react on GSK-3 or shaggy proteins expressed in E coli, but will react on the respective natural enzymes or those expressed in Sf9 cells. The observed preference for the phosphorylated form is about 50/1. The overall selection over other P-tyr proteins may be at least around 20/1. The phosphorylated peptide used as immunogen derives from a region of the catalytic domain (between sub-domain VII and VIII) of the Drosophila GSK-3 /shaggy enzyme. Glycogen synthase kinase 3 is a serine/threonine protein kinase that mediates the addition of phosphate molecules onto serine and threonine amino acid residues. Phosphorylation of a protein by GSK-3 usually inhibits the activity of its downstream target. GSK-3 is active in a number of central intracellular signaling pathways, including cellular proliferation, migration, glucose regulation, and apoptosis.
