Name :
Anti-p53 [Pab 1801]
Catalogue Number :
151144
Applications :
ChIP ELISA FACS IHC IF IP RIA WB
Antigen/Gene or Protein Targets :
p53
Reactivity :
Human
Relevance :
p53 is a stress-regulated transcription factor that regulates cell cycle arrest and was first identified as an SV40 large T antigen-binding protein. Mutation of p53 is the most common genetic change so far identified in a number of major carcinomas. PAb 1801 can be used for the specific detection of human p53 that is synthesised in the presence of p53 from other species.

Apoptosis and Programmed Cell Death, Cancer, Cell Cycle, DNA Damage and Repair, Epigenetics & Nuclear Signalling
Notes :
PAb 1801 may be used for the specific detection of human p53 which is synthesised in the presence of p53 from other species and is suitable for immunohistochemistry using paraffin embedded samples with pepsin treatment. pAb1801,which recognizes an epitope between amino acids 32 and 79 of both wild-type and mutant p53 (from PMID:12692844) Please note that there are some publications that suggest the PAb 1801 clone also cross reacts proteins unrelated to p53 for example an unknown component of processing bodies (P-bodies) (Wolf et al., 2001. Oncogene. 15;20(11):1307-17. PMID: 11313875; Thomas et al., 2012. PLoS One. 2012; 7(5): e36447 PMID: 22590546). Please ensure that appropriate controls (e.g. MW ladder, treatment to induce p53 expression) are included to ensure the positive signal is from p53.
