Desc1 :
Collagen type I is present in soft connective tissue and bone where it represents approximately 90% of the organic matrix. Collagen type I is produced from procollagen when two teloterminal propeptides are digested from the procursor and released into the circulation. The propeptide levels can be measured in serum as indicators of collagen production. Elevated values of these propeptides in serum are found in patients with various bone metabolism defects. Procollagen type I C-terminal propeptide (PICP) has a molecular weight of ~100kD and the normal range in serum is 100-300ug/ml.
Applications:
Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions:
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Hybridoma:
X63-Ag8.653 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice.
Culture Medium:
RPMI 1640 with 10% fetal calf serum
Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
