PAK1 belongs to a highly conserved family of serine-threonine protein kinases that interact specifically with the Rho-family GTPases Cdc42 (cell division cycle 42), Rac and the recently described Cdc42 homologous protein, Chp. PAK proteins participate in regulating the actin cytoskeleton, focal adhesion contacts and cell motility, and are implicated in other cellular functions, such as activation of MAPK (mitogen-activated protein kinase) pathways, apoptotic/survival signalling, cellular transformation and HIV pathogenesis. PAK1 protein plays an important role in regulating cell motility and morphology. Human PAK1 gene is localized on chromosomal region 11q13-q14. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: ELISA: 1:4000 Western Blot: 1-3ug/ml, observed in human, mouse and rat brain lysates on ~70kD bands Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
