Interleukin-1B (IL-1beta) is a potent immuno-modulator which mediates a wide range of immune and inflammatory responses including the activation of B and T cells. Human IL-1beta is a 17kD protein containing 153 amino acid residues. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunocytochemistry and Neutralization of Bioactivity. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 0.1ug/ml using recombinant human IL-1b Immunocytochemistry: 5-15ug/ml using immersion fixed human peripheral blood lymphocytes and immersion fixed human peripheral blood mononuclear cells treated with LPS and monensin. Neutralization: 0.004-0.00ug/ml in the presence of 50pg/ml recombinant human IL-1b and 1.25ug/ml concanavalin A. Measured by its ability to neutralize IL‑1 b-induced proliferation in the D10.G4.1 mouse helper T cell line. Symons, J.A. et al. (1987) in Lymphokines and Interferons, a Practical Approach. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
