The Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) from the jellyfish Aequorea victoria is used as a fluorescent indicator for monitoring gene expression in a variety of cellular systems, including living organisms and fixed tissues. Unlike other bioluminescent reporters, GFP fluoresces in the absence of substrates, cofactors, or other intrinsic or extrinsic proteins. Purified GFP is a 27kD monomer consisting of 238aa and emits green light (emission maximum at 509nm) when excited with blue or UV light. Applications: Suitable for use in FLISA, Immunofluorescence. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunofluorescence Microscopy: 1:500-1:2500 Optimal dilution determined by the researcher. Absorption Wavelength: 495nm Emission Wavelength: 528nm Fluorochrome/Protein Ratio: 2.0 moles FITC per mole of Mouse IgG Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. FITC conjugates are sensitive to light.
