Proteins can be tagged using recombinant DNA techniques to allow for their purification and or detection in different cell systems. b-galactosidase has been used extensively as a fusion partner since b-gal fusion proteins can also be detected by quantitation b-galactosidase enzymatic activity. Epitope tags are useful for the labeling and detection of proteins using Western Blot, immunoprecipitation and immunostaining techniques. Due to their small size, they are unlikely to affect the tagged protein’s biochemical properties. Apparent Molecular Weight: The apparent molecular weight is related to the fusion protein. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunofluorescence/Immunocytochemistry Immunoprecipitation and Flow Cytometry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 1:1000 Immunoprecipitation: 1:50 Immunofluorescence (IC): 1:3200 Flow Cytometry: 1:7000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
