DRD1, a Dopamine Receptor, mediates the effect of the neurotransmitter dopamine, an intermediate in the biosynthesis of noradrenaline and adrenaline. It is involved in the control of motor activity and cognitive memory. Downregulation of DRD1 leads to severe impairments in working memory and to locomotor hyperactivity, which are observed in diseases such as schizophrenia, Parkinson's disease, affective disorders, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. DRD1 enhances smooth muscle contraction and vasodilation in the heart. It also modulates sodium transport in the kidney and is involved in the pathogenesis of hypertension. Dopamine receptor D1 has been reported mostly in various regions of the brain. ESTs have been isolated from normal olfactory epithelium and cancerous genitourinary tract libraries. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: ELISA: 1:64,000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
