Desc1 :

5-Bromodeoxyoridine (BrdU) is an analog of thymidine (derivative of uridine) and can be incorporated specifically into DNA in place of thymidine. Cells can be pulse-labelled with BrdU, and those cells that are synthesizing DNA (in S-phase of the cell cycle) will incorporate BrdU into the DNA. MAb to BrdU can then be used to identify cells that undergo DNA synthesis during exposure to BrdU. The proportion of cells in S-phase of the cell cycle can be determined either by fluorescence microspcopy or by flow cytometric analysis. Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Flow Cytometry: 1:20 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Caution: FITC conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

Specificity :

Recognizes BrdU (5-bromodeoxyuridine) and IU either free, within single-stranded DNA, or coupled to a protein carrier. Does not cross-react with thymidine.

Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.4, 0.05% sodium azide. Labeled with Fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC).
