Bcl-xL prevents apoptosis through two different mechanisms: by heterodimerization with an apoptotic protein to inhibit its apoptotic effect (1,2), and by its direct pore-forming effect on the outer membrane of mitochondria to help maintain a normal membrane state under stress conditions (3). Bcl-xL is phosphorylated by JNK following treatment with microtubule-damaging agents such as paclitaxel, vinblastine and nocodazole 4,5). Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry, Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation, Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Flow Cytometry: 1:50 Western Blot: 1:1000 Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin): 1:300 Citrate/TBST Immunoprecipitation: 1:100 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
