This gene encodes a member of the Ser/Thr protein kinase family and the TGFB receptor subfamily. The encoded protein is a transmembrane protein that has a protein kinase domain, forms a heterodimeric complex with another receptor protein, and binds TGF-beta. This receptor/ligand complex phosphorylates proteins, which then enter the nucleus and regulate the transcription of a subset of genes related to cell proliferation. Mutations in this gene have been associated with Marfan Syndrome, Loeys-Deitz Aortic Aneurysm Syndrome, and the development of various types of tumors. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been characterized. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, Immunofluorescence and ELISA. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 1:1000-1:2000 Immunohistochemistry: 1:10-1:50 on paraformaldehyde-fixed paraffin embedded sections. Requires antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining. Sodium citrate buffer, pH 6.0 is recommended. Immunofluorescence: 1:10-1:50 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

Immunohistochemistry staining of TGFBR2 in paraformaldehyde-fixed, paraffin-embedded section human brain sections using 042782 and blocked with 3% BSA for 0.5 hour at RT; antigen retrieval was by heat mediation with a citrate buffer (pH 6). Samples were incubated with 042782 (1:25) for 1 hours at 37°C. A undiluted biotinylated goat polyvalent antibody was used as the secondary antibody.
