Protein G is a small globular cell surface protein produced by Streptococcus sp. It is composed of two or three nearly identical domains of 55 amino acids each. It binds to Fc fragment of IgG with high affinity. Protein G binds to the constant region of many species of immunoglobulin G. Protein G can be used to detect, quantify and purify IgG antibodies and antibody/antigen complexes. Protein G binds to all IgG subclasses from human, mouse and rat species. It also binds to total IgG from guinea pig, rabbit, goat, cow, sheep and horse. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 0.5-4ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
