This mouse lipocalin-2 ELISA kit is designed for the quantitative determination of mouse lipocalin-2 concentrations in serum, plasma, urine and cell culture supernate samples.

No cross-reactivity with human LCN2, and other cytokine or hormone molecules.

Mouse specificity

As described in the product data sheet, lipocalin-2(LCN2), also known as neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), 24p3, or neutrophil lipocalin (NL), is a 25-kDa secretory glycoprotein1. LCN2 has been implicated in a variety of cellular processes including the innate immune response, differentiation, tumorigenesis, and cell survival2,3. It appears to be upregulated in various inflammation and infection conditions. Several reports suggest4 that LCN2 may represent a sensitive biomarker for various renal injuries and is associated with several types of cancers, including breast cancer5, ovarian, colorectal, and pancreatic cancers6,7. Furthermore, a growing body of evidence suggests that serum levels of lipocalin-2 are correlated with obesity, insulin resistance, hyperglycemia, coronary heart disease and fatty liver disease in humans8-11.

ELISA: This Mouse lipocalin-2 ELISA kit is designed for quantification of mouse lipocalin-2 in serum, plasma, urine and cell culture supernate samples.

This assay is a quantitative sandwich ELISA using monoclonal antibodies against human LCN2. The immunoplate is pre-coated with a monoclonal antibody specific for human LCN2. Standards and samples are added into the wells and any human LCN2 present is captured by the immobilized antibody. After washing away any unbound substances, a horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-linked monoclonal antibody specific for human LCN2 is added to the wells. After a final washing step to remove any unbound reagents, a HRP substrate solution is added and colour develops in proportion to the amount of human LCN2 bound initially. The reaction is stopped and the optical density of the wells determined using a microplate reader. Since the increases in absorbance are directly proportional to the amount of captured human LCN2, the unknown sample concentration can be interpolated from a reference curve included in each assay.

The kit should be stored at 2-8°C upon receipt, and all reagents should be equilibrated to room temperature before use. Remove any unused antibody- coated strips from the Human lipocalin-2 microplate, return them to the foil pouch and re-seal. Once opened, the strips may be stored for up to one month at 2-8°C.
