ARN 11391 is a potentiator of the IP3-gated calcium channel ITPR1 (Inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) receptor type 1). It amplifies intracellular calcium ion signaling by acting directly on ITPR1. ARN 11391 also potentiates calcium signaling in cells expressing mutant ITPR1 which is associated with SCA29, a form of spinocerebellar ataxia.
