ET 18-OCH3 is a synthetic lysophospholipid analog that selectively inhibits phosphatidylinositol phospholipase C (IC50 = 9.6 M in fibroblasts and adenocarcinoma cells). ET 18-OCH3 acts as an agonist at platelet-activating factor (PAF) receptors. ET 18-OCH3 is an antitumor lipid that selectively induces apoptosis in tumor cells, sparing normal cells, and activates the intracellular Fas/CD95 death receptor.
