Product Description :
Beta tubulin is a protein encoded by the tubb gene which is approximately 49,7 kDa. Beta tubulin is localised to the cytoskeleton and cytoplasm. It is involved in the regulation of PLK1 activity at G2/M transition, development of Slit-Robo signalling, the innate immune system, cell cycle and organelle biogenesis and maintenance. Beta tubulin contains a highly acidic C-terminal region which can bind cations such as calcium. Tubulin is the major constituent of microtubules. It binds two moles of GTP, one at an exchangeable site on the beta chain and one at a non-exchangeable site on the alpha chain and forms part of the cytoskeleton. Beta tubulin is ubiquitously expressed in the spleen, thymus and immature brain. Mutations in the tubb gene result in complex cortical dysplasia with other brain malformations. Mutations can also cause congenital symmetric circumferential, an autosomal dominant disease which results in multiple rings of folded skin mostly affecting the limbs. STJ97037 was developed from clone M7. The antibody was affinity-purified from mouse ascites by affinity-chromatography using specific immunogen. The antibody detects endogenous beta tubulin.
