Orexin R-1 is a protein encoded by the HCRTR1 gene which is approximately 47,5 kDa. Orexin R-1 is localised to the cell membrane. It is involved in peptide ligand-binding receptors, signalling by GPCR and RET signalling. It is a G-protein coupled receptor which acts as a moderately selective excitatory receptor for orexin-A and, with a lower affinity, for orexin-B neuropeptide. Orexin R-1 is expressed in the nervous system. Mutations in the HCRTR1 gene may result in rapid-onset obesity with hypothalamic dysfunction and narcolepsy. STJ94837 was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. This polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of orexin R-1 protein.
