Comparison of dsRNA binding to dsRNA specific mAb in the presence and absence of DNA or tRNA by sandwich ELISA. Reovirus dsRNA was used as antigen in the absence (-❑-) or in the presence of 100 µg/well of herring sperm DNA (- x -), E. coli tRNA (- o -). Sandwich ELISA carried out as described in Material and Methods of PubMed ID 2057357 using anti-dsRNA mAb J2 for capture and anti-dsRNA mAb K2 as detecting antibody. Absorption was measured 2 h after substrate addition. DNA or tRNA showed no or only very low binding to the antibodies and they did not reduce the sensitivity of dsRNA detection. The results indicate the apparent affinity of J2 and K2 to ssRNA and to DNA is orders of magnitude lower than to dsRNA. Data from Schönborn et al., Nucl. Acids Res.
