Immunogen :
Synaptopodin affinity purified antibody was prepared from whole rabbit serum produced by repeated immunizations with a synthetic peptide corresponding to an internal region of human synaptopodin.
Packing Type :
Ambient
Physical State :
Lyophilized
Preservative :
0.05mg Thimerosal
Purity and Specificity :
Anti-Synaptopodin antibody is directed against human Synaptopodin protein.  The product was affinity purified from monospecific antiserum by immunoaffinity purification.  A BLAST analysis was used to suggest reactivity with this protein from human, rat, and mouse based on 100% homology for the immunogen sequence.  Cross reactivity with Synaptopodin from other sources has not been determined.

Restore with deionized water (or equivalent)
Reconstitution Volume :
100 µL
Species Reactivity :
Human, mouse, rat
Stabilizer :
5mg BSA
Storage :
Store vial at 4° C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20° C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4° C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
Synonyms :
Synaptopodin antibody, SYNPO
Target Species :
Human
Background :
The spine apparatus (SA) is a specialized form of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) that is found in a subpopulation of dendritic spines in central neurons. The SA consists of a series of stacked discs that are thought to be connected to each other and to the dendritic system of ER-tubules. The actin binding protein synaptopodin (which has originally been described in podocytes of the kidney) is an essential component of the SA. Mice that lack the gene for synaptopodin do not form a spine apparatus. The SA is believed to play a critical role in learning and memory. In summary, an important function of the spine apparatus is the regulation of plasticity at individual synapses, a process known as metaplasticity. The International Radiation Hybrid Mapping Consortium mapped the SYNPO gene to chromosome 5. This antibody is suitable for researchers interested in neuroscience research.
