Immunogen :
Anti-Smoothened antibody was prepared from whole rabbit serum produced by repeated immunizations with a synthetic peptide corresponding to an internal portion of human Smoothened conjugated to Keyhole Limpet Hemocyanin (KLH).

Liquid (sterile filtered)
Preservative :
0.01% (w/v) Sodium Azide
Purity and Specificity :
This affinity purified antibody is directed against human SMO.  This product was affinity purified from monospecific antiserum by immunoaffinity purification.  A BLAST analysis was used to suggest cross-reactivity with the antigen based on 100% homology with the immunizing sequence to mouse and rat.

Target Species :
Human
Background :
SMO (Smoothened, Frizzled Class Receptor) receptors are non-classical G protein-coupled receptors that probably associates with the patched protein (PTCH) to transduce the hedgehogs proteins signal. The binding of sonic hedgehog (SHH) to its receptor patched is thought to prevent normal inhibition by patched of smoothened (SMO). It is required for the accumulation of KIF7, GLI2 and GLI3 in the cilia. And it interacts with DLG5 at the ciliary base to induce the accumulation of KIF7 and GLI2 at the ciliary tip for GLI2 activation.  Diseases associated with SMO include Curry-Jones Syndrome and Basal Cell Carcinoma.  Anti-Smoothened Antibody is useful for researchers interested in Cancer research.
