Immunogen :
TRIM5 alpha Antibody was produced from whole rabbit serum prepared by repeated immunizations with a synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids near the C-terminus of rhesus monkey TRIM5 alpha.
Packing Type :
Dry Ice
Physical State :
Liquid (sterile filtered)
Preservative :
0.01% (w/v) Sodium Azide
Purity and Specificity :
Anti-TRIM5 alpha Antibody was affinity purified from monospecific antiserum by immunoaffinity purification. A BLAST analysis was used to suggest cross-reactivity with TRIM5 alpha with Human based on 100% homology with the immunizing sequence. Cross-reactivity with TRIM5 alpha from other sources has not been determined. Anti-TRIM5 alpha is human specific but should presumably also react with rhesus protein.
Species Reactivity :
Human
Storage :
Store vial at -20° C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20° C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4° C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
Synonyms :
RNF88
Target Species :
Monkey
Background :
Trim5 antibody detects rhesus monkey Trim5 alpha. TRIM5 is a member of a broad family of otherwise unrelated proteins defined by the presence of a tripartite motif containing a RING domain, a B-box type 1, and a B-box type 2, followed by a coiled-coil region. TRIM5 has six alternately spliced isoforms, the longest of which is the alpha variant which also contains a carboxy-terminal B30.2 (SPRY) domain. Expression of TRIM5 alpha variants from humans, rhesus monkeys, and African green monkeys enabled resistance to infection by various retroviruses including HIV-1, albeit at differing efficiencies. All TRIM5 alpha; variants could inhibit at least two different retroviruses, but not from those viruses isolated from the same species, suggesting that TRIM5 alpha acts as a natural barrier to cross-species retrovirus transmission. Anti-TRIM5 alpha is ideal for investigators involved in infectious disease research.
