Immunogen :
Anti-Glycine Receptor Antibody was produced by repeated immunizations with synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acid residues from the N-terminal region.
Packing Type :
Ambient
Physical State :
Lyophilized
Purity and Specificity :
Anti-Glycine Receptor Antibody is directed against rat Glycine Receptor protein. The antibody was affinity purified from monospecific antiserum by immunoaffinity purification. Immunolabeling blocked by preadsorption of antibody with the peptide immunogen. This antibody does not recognize other glycine receptor subunits. Reactivity is expected from mouse. Cross reactivity with Glycine receptor from other species has not been determined.

rat, mouse, human
Storage :
Store vial at 4° C prior to restoration. For extended storage aliquot contents and freeze at -20° C or below. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
Synonyms :
Glycine receptor subunit alpha-1, Glycine receptor 48 kDa subunit, Glycine receptor strychnine-binding subunit
Target Species :
Rat
Background :
Glycine Receptor Antibody detects Glycine Receptor protein. Glycine is an important inhibitory transmitter in the brainstem and spinal cord. Glycine receptors are members of the ligand-gated ion channel family (LGICs) that mediate rapid chemical neurotransmission. The binding of glycine to its receptor produces a large increase in chloride conductance, which causes membrane hyperpolarization. Glycine receptors are anchored at inhibitory chemical synapses by a cytoplasmic protein, gephyrin. The glycine receptor has been used to great advantage in the identification of the binding sites for alcohol on the LGIC family of proteins. These receptors have also been extremely useful in studies of synaptic clustering of receptors. The glycine receptor may also act in concert with an NMDAR subunit to form an excitatory receptor. Therefore, Glycine receptor antibody is ideal for investigators involved in neurological circuitry and more generally in Neuroscience.
