TARGET BACKGROUND :
Sulfonylurea receptors (SUR) are membrane proteins that are molecular targets of the sulfonylurea class of antidiabetic drugs whose mechanism of action is to promote insulin release from pancreatic beta cells. SUR proteins are subunits of the inward-rectifier potassium ion channels Kir6.x (6.1 and 6.2). The association of four Kir6.x and four SUR subunits form an ion conducting channel commonly referred to as the KATP channel. The primary function of the SUR is to sense intracellular levels of ATP and ADP and facilitate the opening or closing of its associatedKir6.x potassium channel, thus monitoring the energy balance within cells.
FUNCTION :
Subunit of the beta-cell ATP-sensitive potassium channel (KATP). Regulator of ATP-sensitive K(+) channels and insulin release. {UniProtKB:Q09428}.
DILUTION INSTRUCTIONS :
Dilute in PBS or medium which is identical to that used in the assay system.
STORAGE CONDITION :
This antibody is stable for at least one (1) year at -20C. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
SPECIFICITY :
This antibody recognizes human, mouse, and rat SUR1. It does not cross-react with SUR2B.
