other info1 :
Samples: Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates. Assay Type: Sandwich. Detection Range: 0.312 ug/ml-20 ug/ml. Sensitivity: 0.078 ug/ml
other info2 :
Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV% is less than 8%. Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess. Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV% is less than 10%. Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess. Detection Wavelength: 450 nm. Sample Volume: 50-100ul
products description :
Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for SEPP1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any SEPP1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for SEPP1 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of SEPP1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a selenoprotein containing multiple selenocysteine (Sec) residues encoded by the UGA codon that normally signals translation termination. The 3' UTR of selenoprotein genes have a common stem-loop structure, the sec insertion sequence (SECIS), that is necessary for the recognition of UGA as a Sec codon rather than as a stop signal. This selenoprotein is a secreted protein, and is unusual in that it contains 10 selenocysteine residues per polypeptide, constituting most of the selenium in plasma. It has been implicated as an extracellular antioxidant and in the transport of selenium. Several transcript variants differing in the 5' UTR, but encoding the same protein, have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
uniprot summary :
SEPP1: Might be responsible for some of the extracellular antioxidant defense properties of selenium or might be involved in the transport of selenium. May supply selenium to tissues such as brain and testis. Belongs to the selenoprotein P family. Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide. Cellular Component: extracellular space; extracellular region. Molecular Function: selenium binding. Biological Process: sexual reproduction; locomotory behavior; brain development; selenium metabolic process; growth; post-embryonic development
