products description :
Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for TRPA1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any TRPA1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for TRPA1 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of TRPA1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

uniprot summary :
Function: Receptor-activated non-selective cation channel involved in detection of pain and possibly also in cold perception and inner ear function. Has a central role in the pain response to endogenous inflammatory mediators and to a diverse array of volatile irritants, such as mustard oil, garlic and acrolein, an irritant from tears gas and vehicule exhaust fumes. Acts also as a ionotropic cannabinoid receptor by being activated by delta(9)-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive component of marijuana. Not involved in menthol sensation. May be a component for the mechanosensitive transduction channel of hair cells in inner ear, thereby participating in the perception of sounds. Probably operated by a phosphatidylinositol second messenger system 1 PublicationManual assertion based on experiment in:Ref.1. Enzyme regulation: Inhibited by ruthenium red, a potent blocker of TRPV channels
