products description :
Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for EPHX2 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any EPHX2 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for EPHX2 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of EPHX2 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a member of the epoxide hydrolase family. The protein, found in both the cytosol and peroxisomes, binds to specific epoxides and converts them to the corresponding dihydrodiols. Mutations in this gene have been associated with familial hypercholesterolemia. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2012]
uniprot summary :
EPHX2: Bifunctional enzyme. The C-terminal domain has epoxide hydrolase activity and acts on epoxides (alkene oxides, oxiranes) and arene oxides. Plays a role in xenobiotic metabolism by degrading potentially toxic epoxides. Also determines steady-state levels of physiological mediators. The N-terminal domain has lipid phosphatase activity, with the highest activity towards threo- 9,10-phosphonooxy-hydroxy-octadecanoic acid, followed by erythro- 9,10-phosphonooxy-hydroxy-octadecanoic acid, 12-phosphonooxy- octadec-9Z-enoic acid, 12-phosphonooxy-octadec-9E-enoic acid, and p-nitrophenyl phospate. Belongs to the AB hydrolase superfamily. Epoxide hydrolase family. Protein type: EC 3.1.3.76; Lipid Metabolism - arachidonic acid; EC 3.3.2.10; Hydrolase. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 8p21. Cellular Component: cytoplasm; peroxisome; cytosol. Molecular Function: toxin binding; protein homodimerization activity; lipid-phosphate phosphatase activity; epoxide hydrolase activity; phosphoric monoester hydrolase activity; magnesium ion binding; lipid phosphatase activity; receptor binding. Biological Process: cellular calcium ion homeostasis; cholesterol homeostasis; dephosphorylation; response to toxin; xenobiotic metabolic process; regulation of blood pressure; arachidonic acid metabolic process; epoxygenase P450 pathway; stilbene catabolic process; positive regulation of vasodilation; inflammatory response; drug metabolic process; phospholipid dephosphorylation. Disease: Hypercholesterolemia, Familial
