specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of human C6. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between human C6 and analogues was observed.
storage stability :
Unopened test kits should be stored at 2 to 8 degree C upon receipt. Please refer to pdf manual for further storage instructions.
other info1 :
Samples: Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates. Assay Type: Sandwich. Detection Range: 62.5 pg/ml -4000 pg/ml. Sensitivity: The minimum detectable dose of human C6 is typically less than 15.6 pg/ml. The sensitivity of this assay, or Lower Limit of Detection (LLD) was defined as the lowest protein concentration that could be differentiated from zero. It was determined the mean O.D value of 20 replicates of the zero standard added by their three standard deviations.
other info2 :
Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%. Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess. Inter-assay Precision: Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%. Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.
products description :
Principle of the assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for C6 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any C6 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for C6 is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of C6 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a component of the complement cascade. The encoded protein is part of the membrane attack complex that can be incorporated into the cell membrane and cause cell lysis. Mutations in this gene are associated with complement component-6 deficiency. Transcript variants encoding the same protein have been described.[provided by RefSeq, Nov 2012]
uniprot summary :
C6: Constituent of the membrane attack complex (MAC) that plays a key role in the innate and adaptive immune response by forming pores in the plasma membrane of target cells. Defects in C6 are the cause of complement component 6 deficiency (C6D). A rare defect of the complement classical pathway associated with susceptibility to severe recurrent infections, predominantly by Neisseria gonorrhoeae or Neisseria meningitidis. Belongs to the complement C6/C7/C8/C9 family. Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5p13. Cellular Component: membrane attack complex; extracellular region. Molecular Function: protein binding. Biological Process: positive regulation of angiogenesis; positive regulation of activation of membrane attack complex; in utero embryonic development; cytolysis; regulation of complement activation; innate immune response; complement activation, classical pathway; complement activation. Disease: Complement Component 6 Deficiency
