Reduction in its expression using siRNA impairs insulin-stimulated GLUT4 vesicle exocytosis in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. Phosphorylated by the insulin receptor (InsR) at Tyr521 in vitro, and bound and phosphorylated by the activated InsR within adipocytes and skeletal muscle.
