products description :
Background: This Quantitative Sandwich ELISA kit is only for in vitro research use only, not for drug, household, therapeutic or diagnostic applications! This kit is intended to be used for determination the level of FHL2 (hereafter termed "analyte") in undiluted original Human body fluids, tissue homogenates, secretions or feces samples. This kit is NOT suitable for assaying non-biological sources of substances.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a member of the four-and-a-half-LIM-only protein family. Family members contain two highly conserved, tandemly arranged, zinc finger domains with four highly conserved cysteines binding a zinc atom in each zinc finger. This protein is thought to have a role in the assembly of extracellular membranes. Also, this gene is down-regulated during transformation of normal myoblasts to rhabdomyosarcoma cells and the encoded protein may function as a link between presenilin-2 and an intracellular signaling pathway. Multiple alternatively spliced variants, encoding the same protein, have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]
uniprot summary :
FHL2: May function as a molecular transmitter linking various signaling pathways to transcriptional regulation. Negatively regulates the transcriptional repressor E4F1 and may function in cell growth. Inhibits the transcriptional activity of FOXO1 and its apoptotic function by enhancing the interaction of FOXO1 with SIRT1 and FOXO1 deacetylation. Protein type: Transcription, coactivator/corepressor; Nuclear receptor co-regulator; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2q12.2. Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; focal adhesion; M band; Z disc; nucleus; actin cytoskeleton. Molecular Function: identical protein binding; protein binding; androgen receptor binding; zinc ion binding; transcription coactivator activity; transcription factor binding. Biological Process: osteoblast differentiation; transcription, DNA-dependent; atrial cardiac muscle cell development; positive regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; androgen receptor signaling pathway; ventricular cardiac muscle cell development; response to hormone stimulus; negative regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; cellular lipid metabolic process; negative regulation of apoptosis
