Background/Introduction: This Quantitative Sandwich ELISA kit is only for in vitro research use only, not for drug, household, therapeutic or diagnostic applications! This kit is intended to be used for determination the level of GNGT1 (hereafter termed "analyte") in undiluted original Human body fluids, tissue homogenates, secretions or feces samples. This kit is NOT suitable for assaying non-biological sources of substances.

ncbi summary :
Heterotrimeric guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) transduce extracellular signals received by transmembrane receptors to effector proteins. Transducin is a guanine nucleotide-binding protein found specifically in rod outer segments, where it mediates activation by rhodopsin of a cyclic GTP-specific (guanosine monophosphate) phosphodiesterase. Transducin is also referred to as GMPase. GNGT1 encodes the gamma subunit of transducin (Hurley et al., 1984 [PubMed 6438626]; Scherer et al., 1996 [PubMed 8661128]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]
uniprot summary :
G-gamma t1: Guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) are involved as a modulator or transducer in various transmembrane signaling systems. The beta and gamma chains are required for the GTPase activity, for replacement of GDP by GTP, and for G protein- effector interaction. Belongs to the G protein gamma family. Protein type: G protein, heterotrimeric; G protein, heterotrimeric gamma; G protein. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7q21.3. Cellular Component: photoreceptor inner segment; plasma membrane; heterotrimeric G-protein complex. Molecular Function: GTPase activity; signal transducer activity. Biological Process: rhodopsin mediated signaling; phototransduction, visible light; synaptic transmission; protein localization; eye photoreceptor cell development; regulation of rhodopsin mediated signaling; metabolic process; signal transduction
