specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of human LTBP1. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between human LTBP1 and analogues was observed.
storage stability :
Unopened test kits should be stored at 2 to 8 degree C upon receipt. Please refer to pdf manual for further storage instructions.

Samples: Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates. Detection Range: 0.156 ng/ml -10 ng/mL. Sensitivity: <0.039 ng/mL
other info2 :
Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%. Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess. Inter-assay Precision: Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%. Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.
products description :
Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for LTBP1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any LTBP1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for LTBP1 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of LTBP1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the family of latent TGF-beta binding proteins (LTBPs). The secretion and activation of TGF-betas is regulated by their association with latency-associated proteins and with latent TGF-beta binding proteins. The product of this gene targets latent complexes of transforming growth factor beta to the extracellular matrix, where the latent cytokine is subsequently activated by several different mechanisms. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
uniprot summary :
LTBP1: May be involved in the assembly, secretion and targeting of TGFB1 to sites at which it is stored and/or activated. May play critical roles in controlling and directing the activity of TGFB1. May have a structural role in the extra cellular matrix (ECM). Belongs to the LTBP family. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: Chaperone; Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2p22-p21. Cellular Component: extracellular matrix; proteinaceous extracellular matrix; protein complex; microfibril; extracellular region. Molecular Function: transforming growth factor beta receptor activity; protein binding; transforming growth factor beta binding; microfibril binding; calcium ion binding. Biological Process: extracellular matrix organization and biogenesis; transmembrane receptor protein serine/threonine kinase signaling pathway
