products description :
Background/Introduction: This Quantitative Sandwich ELISA kit is for lab reagent/research use only, not for drug, household, therapeutic or diagnostic applications! This kit is intended to be used for determine the level of CA724 (hereafter termed "analyte") in undiluted original Rat body fluids and tissue homogenates. This kit is NOT suitable for assaying non-biological sources of substances.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a member of the alpha-2/delta subunit family, a protein in the voltage-dependent calcium channel complex. Calcium channels mediate the influx of calcium ions into the cell upon membrane polarization and consist of a complex of alpha-1, alpha-2/delta, beta, and gamma subunits in a 1:1:1:1 ratio. Research on a highly similar protein in rabbit suggests the protein described in this record is cleaved into alpha-2 and delta subunits. Alternate transcriptional splice variants of this gene have been observed but have not been thoroughly characterized. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
uniprot summary :
CACNA2D1: The alpha-2/delta subunit of voltage-dependent calcium channels regulates calcium current density and activation/inactivation kinetics of the calcium channel. Plays an important role in excitation-contraction coupling. Belongs to the calcium channel subunit alpha-2/delta family. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Channel, calcium. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7q21-q22. Cellular Component: sarcoplasmic reticulum; T-tubule; voltage-gated calcium channel complex. Molecular Function: voltage-gated calcium channel activity; metal ion binding. Biological Process: calcium ion transport; regulation of calcium ion transport
