Intended Uses: This Quantitative Sandwich ELISA kit is only for in vitro research use only, not for drug, household, therapeutic or diagnostic applications! It is intended to be determinated RRBP1 concentrations in Human serum, plasma and other body fluids. Using Purified Human RRBP1 antibody to coat Microelisa Stripplate wells to make solid-phase antibody, then add RRBP1 and RRBP1 antibody which has been labeled with HRP to wells, then the reactants become antibody-antigen-antibody-enzyme complex, after washing completely, add TMB substrate solution, TMB substrate becomes blue color under HRP enzyme-catalyzed, reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm. The concentration of RRBP1 in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve. Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay CV (%) is less than 15%. Inter-assay Precision: Inter-assay CV (%) is less than 15%. [CV(%) = SD/mean ×100]

This gene encodes a ribosome-binding protein of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane. Studies suggest that this gene plays a role in ER proliferation, secretory pathways and secretory cell differentiation, and mediation of ER-microtubule interactions. Alternative splicing has been observed and protein isoforms are characterized by regions of N-terminal decapeptide and C-terminal heptad repeats. Splicing of the tandem repeats results in variations in ribosome-binding affinity and secretory function. The full-length nature of variants which differ in repeat length has not been determined. Pseudogenes of this gene have been identified on chromosomes 3 and 7, and RRBP1 has been excluded as a candidate gene in the cause of Alagille syndrome, the result of a mutation in a nearby gene on chromosome 20p12. RRBP1: a single-pass type III membrane protein of the rough endoplasmic reticulum membrane. Acts as a ribosome receptor and mediates interaction between the ribosome and the endoplasmic reticulum membrane. Associated with the unfolded protein response (UPR) and has anti-apoptotic activity. Knockdown of RRBP1 induces ER stress, and is associated with a significant reduction in the expression of glucose-regulated protein 78 (GRP78). GRP78 regulates the UPR, is widely upregulated in cancer, and plays an important role in chemotherapy resistance in some cancers. Upregulated in many cancers: overexpressed in a high proportion of breast carcinoma cases tested, and is highly expressed in lung cancer tissue compared with adjacent normal tissues. Because RRBP1 appears to play a role in tumor cell survival, it may be a candidate for new targeted therapeutics. Three human isoforms are produced by alternative splicing.
