other info2 :
Intended Uses: This Quantitative Sandwich ELISA kit is only for in vitro research use only, not for drug, household, therapeutic or diagnostic applications! It is intended to be determinated ST3GAL4 concentrations in Human serum, plasma and other body fluids. Using Purified Human ST3GAL4 antibody to coat Microelisa Stripplate wells to make solid-phase antibody, then add ST3GAL4 and ST3GAL4 antibody which has been labeled with HRP to wells, then the reactants become antibody-antigen-antibody-enzyme complex, after washing completely, add TMB substrate solution, TMB substrate becomes blue color under HRP enzyme-catalyzed, reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm. The concentration of ST3GAL4 in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve. Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay CV (%) is less than 15%. Inter-assay Precision: Inter-assay CV (%) is less than 15%. [CV(%) = SD/mean ×100]

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a member of the glycosyltransferase 29 family, a group of enzymes involved in protein glycosylation. The encoded protein is targeted to Golgi membranes but may be proteolytically processed and secreted. The gene product may also be involved in the increased expression of sialyl Lewis X antigen seen in inflammatory responses. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2011]
uniprot summary :
ST3GAL4: It may catalyze the formation of the NeuAc-alpha-2,3- Gal-beta-1,3-GalNAc- or NeuAc-alpha-2,3-Gal-beta-1,3-GlcNAc- sequences found in terminal carbohydrate groups of glycoproteins and glycolipids. It may be involved in the biosynthesis of the sialyl Lewis X determinant. Also acts on the corresponding 1,3- galactosyl derivative. Belongs to the glycosyltransferase 29 family. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: Glycan Metabolism - glycosphingolipid biosynthesis - lacto and neolacto series; Transferase; Glycan Metabolism - keratan sulfate biosynthesis; Membrane protein, integral; EC 2.4.99.-. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11q24.2. Cellular Component: Golgi membrane; membrane; integral to Golgi membrane. Molecular Function: monosialoganglioside sialyltransferase activity; beta-galactoside alpha-2,3-sialyltransferase activity.
