products description :
Background/Introduction: This Quantitative Sandwich ELISA kit is only for in vitro research use only, not for drug, household, therapeutic or diagnostic applications! This kit is intended to be used for determination the level of OBSCN (hereafter termed "analyte") in undiluted original Human body fluids, tissue homogenates, secretions or feces samples. This kit is NOT suitable for assaying non-biological sources of substances.

ncbi summary :
The obscurin gene spans more than 150 kb, contains over 80 exons and encodes a protein of approximately 720 kDa. The encoded protein contains 68 Ig domains, 2 fibronectin domains, 1 calcium/calmodulin-binding domain, 1 RhoGEF domain with an associated PH domain, and 2 serine-threonine kinase domains. This protein belongs to the family of giant sacromeric signaling proteins that includes titin and nebulin, and may have a role in the organization of myofibrils during assembly and may mediate interactions between the sarcoplasmic reticulum and myofibrils. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
uniprot summary :
OBSCN: a Ca(2+)/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase of the Trio family. A giant protein with one Rho GEF domain, one PH domain and two kinase domains. Expressed in skeletal and cardiac muscle, concentrating around Z-disks and M-lines of striated muscle. Binds ankyrin 1 interacts with sarcomeric myosin. May play a critical role in its ability to assemble into A bands in striated muscle. Protein type: Protein kinase, Ser/Thr (non-receptor); Protein kinase, CAMK; Kinase, protein; EC 2.7.11.1; CAMK group; Trio family. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q42.13. Cellular Component: myofibril; M band; Z disc; cytosol. Molecular Function: calmodulin binding; protein serine/threonine kinase activity; protein binding; Rho guanyl-nucleotide exchange factor activity; structural constituent of muscle; metal ion binding; titin binding; ankyrin binding; ATP binding. Biological Process: regulation of small GTPase mediated signal transduction; nerve growth factor receptor signaling pathway; positive regulation of apoptosis; multicellular organismal development; small GTPase mediated signal transduction; sarcomere organization; protein amino acid phosphorylation
