specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of human MUC3A. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between human MUC3A and analogues was observed.
storage stability :
Unopened test kits should be stored at 2 to 8 degree C upon receipt. Please refer to pdf manual for further storage instructions.
other info1 :
Samples: Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates. Assay Type: Sandwich. Detection Range: 1.56 ng/ml -100 ng/ml. Sensitivity: The minimum detectable dose of human MUC3A is typically less than 0.39 ng/ml. The sensitivity of this assay, or Lower Limit of Detection (LLD) was defined as the lowest protein concentration that could be differentiated from zero. It was determined the mean O.D value of 20 replicates of the zero standard added by their three standard deviations.
other info2 :
Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%. Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess. Inter-assay Precision: Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%. Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.
products description :
Principle of the assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for MUC3A has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any MUC3A present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for MUC3A is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MUC3A bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

ncbi summary :
The mucin genes encode epithelial glycoproteins, some of which are secreted and some membrane bound. Each of the genes contains at least one large domain of tandemly repeated sequence that encodes the peptide sequence rich in serine and/or threonine residues, which carries most of the O-linked glycosylation (Gendler and Spicer, 1995 [PubMed 7778880]).[supplied by OMIM, Aug 2008]
uniprot summary :
MUC3A: Major glycoprotein component of a variety of mucus gels. Thought to provide a protective, lubricating barrier against particles and infectious agents at mucosal surfaces. May be involved in ligand binding and intracellular signaling. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: Membrane protein, integral. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7q22. Cellular Component: Golgi lumen; extracellular region; integral to membrane. Molecular Function: extracellular matrix structural constituent; extracellular matrix constituent, lubricant activity. Biological Process: protein amino acid O-linked glycosylation; cellular protein metabolic process; O-glycan processing; post-translational protein modification. Disease: Inflammatory Bowel Disease 11
