specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of human FNDC5. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between human FNDC5 and analogues was observed.
storage stability :
Unopened test kits should be stored at 2 to 8 degree C upon receipt. Please refer to pdf manual for further storage instructions.
other info1 :
Samples: Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates. Assay Type: Sandwich. Detection Range: 7.8 ng/ml -500 ng/ml. Sensitivity: The minimum detectable dose of human FNDC5 is typically less than 1.95 ng/ml.The sensitivity of this assay, or Lower Limit of Detection (LLD) was defined as the lowest protein concentration that could be differentiated from zero. It was determined the mean O.D value of 20 replicates of the zero standard added by their three standard deviations.
other info2 :
Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%. Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess. Inter-assay Precision: Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%. Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.
products description :
Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for FNDC5 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any FNDC5 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for FNDC5 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of FNDC5 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a secreted protein that is released from muscle cells during exercise. The encoded protein may participate in the development of brown fat. Translation of the precursor protein initiates at a non-AUG start codon at a position that is conserved as an AUG start codon in other organisms. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2013]
uniprot summary :
FNDC5: Irisin: mediates beneficial effects of muscular exercise. Induces browning of white adipose tissue by stimulating UCP1 expression, at least in part, via the nuclear receptor PPARA. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: Membrane protein, integral. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p35.1. Cellular Component: peroxisomal membrane; endoplasmic reticulum; integral to membrane; extracellular region; plasma membrane. Molecular Function: hormone activity. Biological Process: response to muscle activity
