specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of Human CERK. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between Human CERK and analogues was observed.
storage stability :
Unopened test kits should be stored at 2 to 8 degree C upon receipt. Please refer to pdf manual for further storage instructions.
other info1 :
Samples: Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, Cell lysates. Assay Type: Sandwich. Detection Range: 18.75 pg/ml-1200 pg/ml. Sensitivity: 4.67 pg/ml
other info2 :
Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV% is less than 8%. Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess. Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV% is less than 10%. Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess. Detection Wavelength: 450 nm. Sample Volume: 50-100ul
products description :
Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for CERK has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any CERK present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for CERK is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of CERK bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

ncbi summary :
CERK converts ceramide to ceramide 1-phosphate (C1P), a sphingolipid metabolite. Both CERK and C1P have been implicated in various cellular processes, including proliferation, apoptosis, phagocytosis, and inflammation (Kim et al., 2006 [PubMed 16488390]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]
uniprot summary :
CERK: Catalyzes specifically the phosphorylation of ceramide to form ceramide 1-phosphate. Acts efficiently on natural and analog ceramides (C6, C8, C16 ceramides, and C8-dihydroceramide), to a lesser extent on C2-ceramide and C6-dihydroceramide, but not on other lipids, such as various sphingosines. Binds phosphoinositides. Protein type: EC 2.7.1.138; Kinase, lipid; Lipid Metabolism - sphingolipid. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 22q13.31. Cellular Component: mitochondrion; plasma membrane; integral to membrane. Molecular Function: ceramide kinase activity; magnesium ion binding; diacylglycerol kinase activity; ATP binding; NAD+ kinase activity. Biological Process: sphingolipid metabolic process; protein kinase C activation; glycosphingolipid metabolic process; ceramide metabolic process; lipid phosphorylation; transmembrane transport
