Sample Volume: 50-100ul. Protein Biological Process 1: Transport. Protein Biological Process 3: Lipid transport
products description :
Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with APOL3. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugated antibody preparation specific for APOL3. The competitive inhibition reaction is launched between with pre-coated APOL3 and APOL3 in samples. A substrate solution is added to the wells and the color develops in opposite to the amount of APOL3 in the sample. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

ncbi summary :
This gene is a member of the apolipoprotein L gene family, and it is present in a cluster with other family members on chromosome 6. The encoded protein is found in the cytoplasm, where it may affect the movement of lipids, including cholesterol, and/or allow the binding of lipids to organelles. In addition, expression of this gene is up-regulated by tumor necrosis factor-alpha in endothelial cells lining the normal and atherosclerotic iliac artery and aorta. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2009]
uniprot summary :
APOL3: May affect the movement of lipids in the cytoplasm or allow the binding of lipids to organelles. Belongs to the apolipoprotein L family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: Lipid-binding. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 22q13.1. Cellular Component: membrane; cytoplasm; extracellular region. Molecular Function: lipid transporter activity; signal transducer activity; lipid binding. Biological Process: positive regulation of I-kappaB kinase/NF-kappaB cascade; lipoprotein metabolic process; inflammatory response; signal transduction; lipid transport
