This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of mouse CDH11. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between mouse CDH11 and analogues was observed.

Samples: Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates. Assay Type: Sandwich. Detection Range: 78 pg/ml -5000 pg/ml. Sensitivity: 19.5 pg/ml.

Principle of the Assay This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for CDH11 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any CDH11 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for CDH11 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of CDH11 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

This gene encodes a type II classical cadherin and preproprotein that is proteolytically processed to generate a mature protein product. This protein product is an integral membrane protein that mediates calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion, specifically in the context of bone development. Homozygous knockout mice for this gene exhibit impaired synovium development and reduced bone density. Multiple pseudogenes of this gene have been identified in the genome.
