other info2 :
Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%. Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess. Inter-assay Precision: Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%. Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.
products description :
Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for KLK14 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any KLK14 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for KLK14 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of KLK14 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

ncbi summary :
Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases having diverse physiological functions. Growing evidence suggests that many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and some have potential as novel cancer and other disease biomarkers. This gene is one of the fifteen kallikrein subfamily members located in a cluster on chromosome 19. In some tissues its expression is hormonally regulated. The expression pattern of a similar mouse protein in murine developing teeth supports a role for the protein in the degradation of enamel proteins. Alternate splice variants for this gene have been described, but their biological validity has not been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
uniprot summary :
KLK4: Involved in enamel formation. Defects in KLK4 are the cause of amelogenesis imperfecta hypomaturation type 2A1 (AI2A1). AI2A1 is an autosomal recessive defect of enamel formation. The disorder involves both primary and secondary dentitions. The teeth have a shiny agar jelly appearance and the enamel is softer than normal. Brown pigment is present in middle layers of enamel. Belongs to the peptidase S1 family. Kallikrein subfamily. Protein type: Protease; Secreted, signal peptide; EC 3.4.21.-; Secreted. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19q13.41. Cellular Component: extracellular region. Molecular Function: serine-type peptidase activity; metal ion binding; serine-type endopeptidase activity. Biological Process: extracellular matrix disassembly; protein catabolic process; proteolysis. Disease: Amelogenesis Imperfecta, Hypomaturation Type, Iia1
