specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of human BTD. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between human BTD and analogues was observed.
storage stability :
Unopened test kits should be stored at 2 to 8 degree C upon receipt. Please refer to pdf manual for further storage instructions.
other info1 :
Samples: For the quantitative determination of human biotinidase (BTD) concentrations in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates. Detection Range: 37.5 muU/ml-600 muU/ml.
other info2 :
Sensitivity: The minimum detectable dose of human BTD is typically less than 18.75 muU/ml. The sensitivity of this assay, or Lower Limit of Detection (LLD) was defined as the lowest human BTD concentration that could be differentiated from zero. It was determined the mean O.D value of 20 replicates of the zero standard added by their three standard deviations. Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%. Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess. Inter-assay Precision: Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%. Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.
products description :
. Principle of the assay: This assay employs the competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to BTD. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugated BTD. The competitive inhibition reaction is launched between with HRP-conjugated BTD and BTD in samples. A substrate solution is added to the wells and the color develops in opposite to the amount of BTD in the sample. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene functions to recycle protein-bound biotin by cleaving biocytin (biotin-epsilon-lysine), a normal product of carboxylase degradation, resulting in regeneration of free biotin. The encoded protein has also been shown to have biotinyl transferase activity. Mutations in this gene are associated with biotinidase deficiency. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2013]
uniprot summary :
Function: Catalytic release of biotin from biocytin, the product of biotin-dependent carboxylases degradation. Catalytic activity: Biotin amide + H2O = biotin + NH3.
