Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for CD41 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any CD41 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for CD41 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of CD41 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

ITGA2B: Integrin alpha-IIb/beta-3 is a receptor for fibronectin, fibrinogen, plasminogen, prothrombin, thrombospondin and vitronectin. It recognizes the sequence R-G-D in a wide array of ligands. It recognizes the sequence H-H-L-G-G-G-A-K-Q-A-G-D-V in fibrinogen gamma chain. Following activation integrin alpha- IIb/beta-3 brings about platelet/platelet interaction through binding of soluble fibrinogen. This step leads to rapid platelet aggregation which physically plugs ruptured endothelial cell surface. Belongs to the integrin alpha chain family. Heterodimer of an alpha and a beta subunit. The alpha subunit is composed of an heavy and a light chain linked by a disulfide bond. Alpha-IIb associates with beta-3.
