products description :
The protein encoded by this gene catalyzes the phosphorylation of phosphatidylinositol-5-phosphate on the fourth hydroxyl of the myo-inositol ring to form phosphatidylinositol-5,4-bisphosphate. This gene is a member of the phosphatidylinositol-5-phosphate 4-kinase family. The encoded protein sequence does not show similarity to other kinases, but the protein does exhibit kinase activity. Additionally, the encoded protein interacts with p55 TNF receptor.

uniprot summary :
PIP4K2B: Participates in the biosynthesis of phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate. Homodimer. Binds TNFRSF1A. Interacts with PIP4K2A. Interaction with PIP4K2A suppresses ubiquitination by the SPOP/ CUL3 complex. Highly expressed in brain, heart, pancreas, skeletal muscle and kidney. Detected at lower levels in placenta, lung and liver. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: Carbohydrate Metabolism - inositol phosphate; EC 2.7.1.149; Kinase, lipid; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q12. Cellular Component: autophagic vacuole; cytosol; nucleoplasm. Molecular Function: 1-phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate 5-kinase activity; 1-phosphatidylinositol-5-phosphate 4-kinase activity; protein binding; protein homodimerization activity; receptor signaling protein activity. Biological Process: cell surface receptor linked signal transduction; phosphatidylinositol biosynthetic process; phospholipid metabolic process; regulation of autophagy; regulation of phosphoinositide 3-kinase cascade
