This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of human CD70. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between human CD70 and analogues was observed.

Samples: Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates. Assay Type: Sandwich. Detection Range: 0.156 ng/ml -10 ng/ml. Sensitivity: 0.039 ng /ml.

Principle of the Assay This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for CD70 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any CD70 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for CD70 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of CD70 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that belongs to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family. This cytokine is a ligand for TNFRSF27/CD27. It is a surface antigen on activated, but not on resting, T and B lymphocytes. It induces proliferation of costimulated T cells, enhances the generation of cytolytic T cells, and contributes to T cell activation. This cytokine is also reported to play a role in regulating B-cell activation, cytotoxic function of natural killer cells, and immunoglobulin sythesis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
