products description :
Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for PGM1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any PGM1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for PGM1 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of PGM1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene is an isozyme of phosphoglucomutase (PGM) and belongs to the phosphohexose mutase family. There are several PGM isozymes, which are encoded by different genes and catalyze the transfer of phosphate between the 1 and 6 positions of glucose. In most cell types, this PGM isozyme is predominant, representing about 90% of total PGM activity. In red cells, PGM2 is a major isozyme. This gene is highly polymorphic. Mutations in this gene cause glycogen storage disease type 14. Alternativley spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified in this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]
uniprot summary :
Function: This enzyme participates in both the breakdown and synthesis of glucose. Catalytic activity: Alpha-D-glucose 1-phosphate = alpha-D-glucose 6-phosphate. Cofactor: Binds 1 magnesium ion per subunit.
