uniprot entry name :
SORL_HUMAN
specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of human SORL1. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between human SORL1 and analogues was observed.
storage stability :
Unopened test kits should be stored at 2 to 8 degree C upon receipt. Please refer to pdf manual for further storage instructions.
other info1 :
Samples: Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, Cell lysates. Assay Type: Sandwich. Detection Range: 0.156 ng/ml -10 ng/ml. Sensitivity: The minimum detectable dose of human SORL1 is typically less than 0.039 ng/ml. The sensitivity of this assay, or Lower Limit of Detection (LLD) was defined as the lowest protein concentration that could be differentiated from zero. It was determined the mean O.D value of 20 replicates of the zero standard added by their three standard deviations.
other info2 :
Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%. Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess. Inter-assay Precision: Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%. Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.
products description :
Principle of the assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for SORL1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any SORL1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for SORL1 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of SORL1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a mosaic protein that belongs to at least two families: the vacuolar protein sorting 10 (VPS10) domain-containing receptor family, and the low density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) family. The encoded protein also contains fibronectin type III repeats and an epidermal growth factor repeat. The encoded protein is translated as a preproprotein and likely plays roles in endocytosis and sorting. There may be an association between expression of this locus and Alzheimer's Disease.[provided by RefSeq, Sep 2010]
uniprot summary :
SORL1: Likely to be a multifunctional endocytic receptor, that may be implicated in the uptake of lipoproteins and of proteases. Binds LDL, the major cholesterol-carrying lipoprotein of plasma, and transports it into cells by endocytosis. Binds the receptor- associated protein (RAP). Could play a role in cell-cell interaction. Belongs to the VPS10-related sortilin family. SORL1 subfamily. Protein type: Cell surface; Membrane protein, integral; Receptor, misc. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11q23.2-q24.2. Cellular Component: Golgi apparatus; extracellular space; Golgi cisterna; endoplasmic reticulum; integral to plasma membrane; early endosome; trans-Golgi network; multivesicular body; recycling endosome; membrane; cell soma; nuclear envelope lumen; endosome. Molecular Function: ADP-ribosylation factor binding; protein binding; transmembrane receptor activity; beta-amyloid binding; low-density lipoprotein binding. Biological Process: cholesterol metabolic process; negative regulation of MAP kinase activity; receptor-mediated endocytosis; cell migration; protein targeting to lysosome; protein maturation; lipid transport; signal transduction; negative regulation of neurogenesis; cell proliferation; negative regulation of protein oligomerization; regulation of smooth muscle cell migration; positive regulation of protein catabolic process; protein targeting to Golgi; post-Golgi vesicle-mediated transport; negative regulation of protein binding; protein retention in Golgi; protein targeting.
